"I took a CNA course awhile back. I never went to get my state license. See below..>.?
If you are doing private care without going through an actual establishment then it would be up to the family whether they want to hire you without a license. Companies that provide in home care, or any care for that matter, would not hire you without a license becaue, whether it is a skilled facility or not, you are a liability. If you are hired through the family to go into an establihment as a private sitter or caretaker for someone then the facility cant do anything about it because it was decided through the family. So it depends on the route you go. If you need your license you can always challenge the test or take a refresher course and take the test to get certified. If you are trying to actually be hired anywhere this is what you will have to do.
