Questions about College?

I have a few questions about going to college.. I will be a Junior in High School in the upcoming school year, & I have a 3.5 GPA (Might not be important, but just so everyone knows I can get into the college).. I want to be a Registered Nurse which should take me 4 years. However, I have been wondering if I should take 2 years of Houston Community College before I go on to a University because it would save me a lot of money. If I do so, is it possible for me to transfer to LSU from HCC? Also, If that is possible then would I still have 4 years at a LSU? (Obvously i'm hoping not, i'm trying to get years out of the way). Or does taking core classes at a Community College count the same as taking them at a University? Sorry if it all doesn't make sense.. It's the 3rd time I had to type it because my laptop screwed up Lol. Thanks in advance help is much appreciated :)
